The squadron was originally founded in 1919, making it the oldest active Navy squadron. The chronograph features a 44.5-millimetre case made of black zirconium oxide ceramic. The pushers and the crown are made of Ceratanium, an IWC-developed material combining the lightness and robustness of titanium with the hardness and scratch-resistance of ceramic. The squadronÕs patch with the classic top hat can be found at 6 oÕclock on the dial, and also as an engraving on the Grade 5 titanium case back. The day-date display, the tip of the chronograph seconds hand, the small seconds and the stitching on the black strap add eye-catching detailing in the squadronÕs characteristic red. Ticking away inside the case is the IWC-manufactured 69380 caliber chronograph movement. The annual production of this chronograph is limited to 500 pieces.
